The Chicago Journal of International Law Online (CJIL Online) is currently accepting submissions for Vol. 5 No. 1 to be published in early 2026. CJIL Online is the official online companion of the Chicago Journal of International Law. Established in 2021, CJIL Online furthers the Journal’s mission by highlighting particularly timely, dynamic, and cutting-edge developments in international and comparative law.
We consider a wide range of manuscripts and topics, from shorter essays to traditional articles that make a significant, original contribution to the field of international law and policy, or comparative law. Unfortunately, limited resources prevent the journal from accepting draft manuscripts requiring extensive stylistic and/or substantive changes. We therefore request that manuscripts be both well written and completely argued at the time of submission. All manuscripts must be thoroughly footnoted, with all references cited in Bluebook format.
Submissions should be between 6000-10000 words, excluding footnotes. Manuscripts can be submitted through the Chicago Journal of International Law Scholastica (strongly preferred, click here to submit) or via email to connieche1997@uchicago.edu. Please include in the title of the manuscript [ONLINE], as well as the word count of the manuscript and a CV with your submission.
Please reach out to the Executive Online Editor, Connie Chen, at connieche1997@uchicago.edu if you have any questions or concerns. We plan to close submissions on August 18, 2025. We look forward to reviewing your submissions!
